Ginsu Mary

Mary Pickford was a trailblazer for women and for motion pictures. The Canadian born actress was the co-founder of United Artists with her then husband Douglas Fairbanks and his best friend Mr. Charlie Chaplin (heard of him??) and one of the 36 founders of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. She was known as “America’s Sweetheart,” “Little Mary,” and The Girl with the Curls,” she may have looked full of beguiling innocence but she was sharp as a freshly sharpened Ginsu knife and at times ruthless. Thank God little Mary had some balls or I am pretty sure that we would not have seen as many female film directors or writers in that era of film. Cheers to you, Mary of Sweetheart Land. mary pickford
